There are variables to the Tractor (ie: fluids, options, etc) but the "base shipping weight" according to the IH Price Lists was 555#. So I guess if you planned for 600# you would be safe.

The 48" mower deck would be in the arena of 150#.

My "50 Years of Cub Cadets" book, page 69, says ""Operating weight: 765 pounds with 175 pound operator and fuel". But it does not indicate if that is with a deck attached or not. So if anyone knows what "operating weight" means, you can figure it out. I'd guess the deck is probably 100-120 lbs.

765# - 175# operator - 20# fluids = 570#. Pretty close the the 555# that IH stated.

All you folks looking for this kind of info should avail yourselves to a copy of "50 Years of Cub Cadet" by Oscar H. Wills III.
Therein you will find a mountain of info covering everything Cub from 1961 to 2011.

Invaluable source for the avid Cub enthusiast and available from the above sponsors.
I have one an refer to it constantly to the point it is becoming quite dog eared!

Just as a thought..... I'm kind of surprised it isn't in the owners manual, or on Tractor Data. I would have thought it would have been listed in one or both. Usually curb weight is in an owners manual, and TD lists it for a lot of the big tractors.

Just sayin.....

At one time when they were new, most of the sales brochures included the weight.
This one has it for the 73-147 and the 70/100 brochure too!

Don't forget to add the weight of the pallet !

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
