Default Cub Cadet 76
hey guys my dad has a cub 76 that he got with some other cubs that he bought. it idles very high and when he tries to bring it down it dies out. i believe it is the 7 hp original motor. what is a good source for a replacement engine? thank you

That doesn't mean the motor's bad. Sounds like a carb and/or governor problem.

The IH Model 76 is a Cadet Lawn Tractor, not an IH Cub Cadet which is a Garden Tractor.

MattG is correct. You don't just change the engine because it runs rough...You fix it...If you are not a mechanic (not a crime), please find a good small engine service and have them check out that engine.

You must have the IH Operator's manual for the Cadet Model 76 Lawn Tractor , the IH GSS-1476 Service Manual for the Cadet 76 Lawn Tractor, the Model 76 portion of the IH TC-157 Parts Manual. I also strongly recommend that you have the Briggs & Stratton Single Cylinder "L" Head Repair Manual (shown in the attached photo...). That'll help you get that engine up and running well...

thanks guys, to be a little more clear this is my first lawn mower so i will check out the carb and the govner. would it be an adjustment to the govner or is it something that is replaced? thanks again to new guy learning
