Default 1450 on CL

I am not an expert on these units. Is this a fair price or a tad to high. I am not looking for a Lew deal, just do not want to pay more than a fair value. It does seem to have some nice options and add ons. I know the paint is incorrect, but am not concerned about that. I would find and want to put a snowblower on it for winter work.

I appreciate your help, advice and information.

Mike

The one option that really stands out is the "dual hydraulics". That is rare to see on a Q/L tractor. Whether that is of value to you or not, is up to you.

Everything else looks OK to me, except for the paint job.

I think the selling price that is a tad high, at least in my area.

Looks decent Mike. Price is high though. Also know, and I'm sure you do, that the date it was made was not 1987, wrong decade. Dual stick hydraulics on a quiet line, very cool.

It was built in January 1978. Dual hydraulics very nice.

Sellers like that piss me off. Last week that same machine was on Chicago Craigslist for 1/2 of the current asking price. I hope it rots before someone ponys up his price.

Well guys & gal

That is why I ask the question.

I've been a member for about a year now, mostly for rebuilding a 95 RER that I bought last year. Now I am watching for a nice GT to mow and snowplow with. I watch the "For Sale" posts, but haven't really seen anything yet. I also look at the forum cl/ebay posts and most of them are in far away locations. Once a month or so, I go on cl and do the search ordeal. Today I found 4 options, 5 when I add Ben's recommendation. A 149 for $550, a bit edgy for it's looks. A 1250 for $750 with a deck/blower & tiller, but manual lift. The red 1450 for $875 that I started this thread with. I don't need the dual hydro set up, but if it's there, I won't complain. Another 1450 in really superb condition and correctly painted. Again with dual hydro, but (hold on to your hats) $1450 asking price. Another 149 with hydro lift for $450. Nice enough condition, used, but not abused. But who knows where in northern Wi. And Ben's 1450 in the Madison area for $250. Surprisingly, it also has the dual hydro set up.

I just may have to consider that Madison 1450 unit. For the price, one can spend some money on it and end up with a nice working machine. Emphasis on working machine.

I've been reading a lot of the posts over my time here trying to learn what is what. One thing I haven't figured out and bothers me a tad. On most of these units, there is the long handle on the right of the machines for lifting decks and blowers. There is also a short handle on the left side. What is that for and what does it control? I haven't seen anything that refers to it.

Thanks guys & gal. I appreciate the input.

Mike

Delta. I did know. I checked TractorData and saw the serial number/year. I think the lister simply transposed the 78 into 87.

Ben. Do you happen to know anything about this unit? I have seen it on cl for quite awhile.

Wide frame tractors models 86-169 had PTO engaging handle on left side of dash. QuietLines had electric pto clutches and a switch on dash. Hydraulic lift equipped model QuietLines had lift handle on right side. Sometimes owners do switch handles to the left side.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
