Score!
After having issues with 4 out of 4 of my tractors, the last being the 147 puking hydro fluid when I finished mowing on Saturday, I was more than a little disappointed. Mostly due to the fact that I have very little time to fix or tinker with the Cubs. I could already hear my wife complaining about these old machines, so I quietly stuffed them back in the barn and got cleaned up.
Had to go to my nieces first birthday party where a ran into a friend of mine I hadn't seen in a while. We got to talking and I started going over my multiple tractor issues. When I finished complaining he asked if I wanted another "project tractor", I immediately said yes! (I'm a glutton for punishment) He wasn't sure what model exactly but it was a cub, his father gave it to him a couple of years ago but he already had a zero turn so its been sitting in his barn for 2 or 3 years. I stopped over to take a look the next day and it turned out to be 782! We pumped up a tire and dropped some fuel in she fired right off and drove onto my trailer. Looks like it'll need a little deck work and he thought there was an issue with the PTO ofter she heats up. Looks like I have to study up on these new-fangled mowin machines. Not bad for free

Look at that John Deere seat just trying to blend in Looks to be a pretty straight unit - and it looks like you've got the CCC badge on the front - those usually tend to walk/fall off! Super nice score!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
