I just added the sleeve hitch to the tractor order and I purchased from Amazon today the Brinly box scraper as my first implement to use on my driveway to relocated a bunch of crushed stone that was part of an old parking area that's no longer used. I'll try to loosen it up and relocate to my driveway. I gotta check out the Johnny products and see what they have too.

Which deck did you select?
I purchased the 48" fabricated deck due to some tight areas and rough yard I have. It should be a good match for my needs.

My 'troll-post-alarm' is going off because of so much enthusiasm for a new Cub Cadet but I will give all involved the benefit of the doubt and say congrats on the new GSX!

As a die-hard old Cub guy I can honestly say that I'd go buy a new Cub if I had the money to burn. I would be interested to see how well it holds up in the hand of someone that will maintain it properly, I'm also really curious how well it would do pulling a plow.

I have the 54” fab deck. I like mine. Cuts nice for me. I think you’ll like the 48” one.

How do the mowing decks perform as far as clearing the clippings out? I had a 2011 Z-Force S with 54 inch fabricated deck that would be completely plugged if I did not scrape out the bottom of the deck every other time I mowed. Pain in the ar$e!!! I tried gator blades and the seemed worse.

So do the new decks plug up or all is well with them?

I highly recommend anyone who might think Cub quality has suffered to take another look and drive one, you might just change your mind, I did. By the way, my first 20 years had many many hours on a 73 and 125 mowing, plowing, pulling stumps just to name a few.

I can't stress it enough on how impressed I was with the build quality and the "heft" of it. The cast iron tranny imo is very substantial and looks ready to do some real work. In fact, I think it would give the old IH tranny a run for the money. I was asking the dealer/owner who is also a Case IH dealer for the big stuff and a Cub Dealer for decades said that plowing soil with one of those would not be a problem and I would have to agree with him based on what I experienced thus far. Thick metal, fabricated deck, power steering, extremely tight turing radius are just a few good things I noticed . I'll follow up with more once I get some hrs on it.
I've added link to a photo of the tranny.

Yep, that is the same they used on the 3000 series.
DSCN1441.jpg

It's sad that you can't pull a 3 bottom plow with it but it is also sad that you can't put a 5th wheel trailer hitch on a Corvette.

I don't know of any Cat 0 equipment being built today so why would Cub Cadet produce a tractor with a rear hitch?

Believe me, you'll get used to guys beating you up because you want a new machine. I just sit back, smile and think, ya, but your machine is a pos when it comes to mowing grass. Anything pre 82 series is a joke at mowing grass, 82 series wasn't much better but they did improve the Cyclops a little.

Okay rant over....LOL

You tell them Oak.

It gets old when people on this site put down those who like or want the newer Cubs. Not everyone has the ability, desire, or time to work on those older Cubs and are looking for a tractor that hasn't been beaten up or not taken care of by a previous owner. These newer dealer-type Cubs will last 20 years or so if they are taken care of by their owner.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
