Default Cub 123 Fuel Filter
Hi all,

My 123 has a 90's replacement Kohler on it. The PO removed the sediment bowl setup and replaced it with a little black and white inline fuel filter. I think it's easier to stick with this current setup but I'll take any advice you may have. What is the number one filter that I should be using with this current configuration?

I've never seen a Kohler model "90's replacement". How about a real model number so we know what he shoe horned in.... no idea what "configuration" you have.


Sediment bowl is the best filter to use on a gravity flow system with a metal tank.

I like keeping them as original as possible, so I like the sediment bowl on a 123, but if you want to run a good filter on a Kohler engine, then use a Kohler filter.

You can use any Fuel Filter that you like, as long as it uses the same line size and is "gravity fed" applicable.

And to define "Gravity fed"
Picture a fuel flow from the line removed from the carb with a 1/2 tank of gas being that of a young mans urine flow after drinking a beverage.

Some filters are designed for a fuel pump system so they will pass a dribble of fuel, when put in a gravity system,---- inadequate for proper engine operation.

Sorry J-Mech, it's the K301, just a late 90's model. I do see the sediment bowl setup on ebay for very cheap. I'm not unwilling to go back to that setup.

The K series was only made until the 80's, so not sure what you think you have. May still be a K series, just not that new.

I may have made an error when I looked up the date on the Kohler site (I think it was the Kohler site) using the serial number. I'll look at it again and I'll post it here tonight for more knowledgeable people to have a look at.

I have an old 123. I think it would be worth the time to put it back to original with a sediment bowl.
