Road trip Tuesday
Told the wife seeing she has Tuesday off, we're going on a two hour road trip to check out a tractor. She said, "what's this one?" I replied it's red.
Then she fired back, "oh an 82 series", I said, nope. She said something like, something someone painted red then. I couldn't keep her guessing so I told her we're going to check out a 1956 Farmall Cub with hydraulic lift and a belly mower. Well you would of thought she won the lottery by the way she was acting. She said with that look she get's when she's confused. "Well you can't use it, so......does that mean it's for me?" Yes dear, in a round about way it's yours. So I had to show her pictures, she's loving it and we haven't even bought it yet. Good woman I have right there never complains about me buying anything.. Lucky, lucky man I am

Cool deal Todd. The Cubs a pretty cool little tractors and I like the 55-57 because they started using the stainless emblems and I think the under slung exhaust. Good luck and I hope you get it.

My wife wants a cub just because "it's cute."
At the end of the day, I'm thankful that she is 1) into tractors at all and 2)wants something red (she dislikes the color red in general.) I tried to get her to like a yellow one; at least those have more HP than the red ones, but she prefers the red cubs.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
