Two years ago I bought a 149 with a two year old 14hp Kohler replacement engine for $300. The guy said it wouldn't move and it was sitting in his yard. He had started to mow and it quite moving. I loaded it up and got it home to find out it was a sheared pin on the drive shaft. He was fed up with it and wanted it gone. That's the best CC deal I have had yet. Man, it's nice to have a new engine. I was looking at having to rebuild mine and this just popped up from nowhere.

My aunt gave my dad a mower(won't say the make) said it would hardly move and was smoking alot. The drive belt was about to come off ,it was worn out and had a mouse nest around the cooling fins on the block. Cleaned out the nest, put on a new belt and worked fine! I have seen a guy around here at an auction take and mix up all the plug wires on tractors and then buy them cheap at the auction, thats down right dirty!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
