kubota D640 head oil leak
Well the 1782 has had some interesting po mods and a few things that had to be taken care of and one being the oil leak at the back of the head between the block and head closest to the water pump. Found that from the manual that there is a rubber o ring that is supposed to be around a metal nipple for oil transportation to the head. When taken apart it was confirmed that it wasn't there. Looks like the bottom end was recently rebuilt. Not sure that it was a bit aggressive rebuild as the piston is stamped .050 but the cross hatching is still very noticeable and very little normal wear!! Kinda excited about that but a little concerned about the 50 over.
On to the pics

Wow wonder why they had to go all the way to 50 over? Sucks that you have to get into it already. Upside is you will probably never have to do it again.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
