Not really sure I care for your avatar pic. [/QUOTE]

Sorry I'll change it for you.

The drain plug shouldn't leak and you said yourself it was a problem item.

Your cranks haft seal shouldn't leak either, but sometimes they do. Power for the coarse.

A friend of mine has a MTD Cub GT about 10 years old (not sure of the model) but it has a 25 hp Kohler. He had the quick release fitting and one day while he was mowing the fitting jiggled open and oil got sprayed on the inside of the plastic hood and grill and it lit up. He got it out before any damage was done to the engine but the hood and grill were history. Maybe it was his fault or maybe it was the fitting but any time a I get something with the quick change fitting I change it over to pipe nipples and caps.

Yup, change the oil and by no fault of your own, all the oil leaks out and you end up with a pile of crap. Now that I know these things malfunction I want to go with a better solution.

Had a half a$$ oil drain similar, on a brand new $1,700 Vanguard go bad within the first season. It is what it is. You fix it, and life goes on.
A redesigned, now all is good...

The consumer deserves better then half a$$. Manufactures have been designing for over a century.

Not everybody has the ability or the skill to diagnose a simple problem that could result in a blown motor. Bottom line, if a problem happens under a warranty it MIGHT be covered if the manufacture can't prove user error. Everyone else can just shell out big bucks for a major repair or $2000 plus for a new mower.

You are a prime example of consumer ignorance. You are just the type of person who doesn't understand that there are some parts of owning things that are just YOUR responsibility and not the manufacturers.

Take note: You own it. You bought it, and it's YOUR responsibility to maintain it. It will break. It will wear out. DEAL WITH IT. Things don't last forever. Especially cheap lawn tractors. Feel lucky you got 7 years out of it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
