Default Had to update my Profile Signature with a 111

Just got back in tonight. Picked up a IH Cadet 111 with a rotted out mower deck! Engine purrs, and mower deck works! I think the drive belt between the engine and center/double pulley is quite worn, but other wise so far the trans seems to be in working order!

Price: $55.00 w/ no battery.

So, getting up early to start a basic clean up and service check everything, then gonna fire up the Cadet!

Also on another note, my former 1211 is coming back to me in a week or two real soon!

Always great to get more cub cadets! Pictures to follow.

How does it go, "Pics or it didn't happen"?
I can't even place what a 111 looks like. I could google it, but I'll wait for your photos!

Congrats on the new toy. If you decide to paint it up Maple Hunter has the decals but I don't think they have them listed. The 111 was only made in 78 and 79 and they only made 6,401 of them, my son's is a 79 which is the year they made most of them but hopefully you got lucky and got a 78 since they made less than 600 that year.

Even the Peerless transaxle is miles better then the bottom-end Craftsman lawn tractor of today! I'm pretty happy with what I got for what I paid, lol!

Nice looking machine to be as old as it is. (Tim's is nice too, but I think he may have washed and waxed it a bit)
So looks like this is pretty much along the lines of a 382 gear drive, a little older maybe? That style was built way better than the Murrays, Craftsman, and Dynamark of that size and vintage--in my opinion.
So whats the plan for it?

The plan is to fix it up some and patch up the deck so grass don't go every which way. I figure to mow where the yard is too rough for the '12 cc 1050 lgt. It needs the frame squeezed together as the front axle has too much horizontal play. All 5 grease fittings took grease. You are spot on about the quality of this series of lawn tractor. I'd encourage anyone to buy one if possible! More pictures to come!

Looks like you got a 79 also. The 111 was replaced the following year with the 382. I see decks pop up for sale from time to time so keep a look out and you will likely find one. A word of caution, if you're on a hill be gentle when letting out the clutch, its a little light in the front and will stand up on you if you're not careful.

I can't seem to find a serial number range for these model lawn tractors. Is there any clutch adjustments or a manual I can refer too? Got a drive belt part #14 it's the short belt that drives the trans. The belt I got was exactly 29" and was too tight that there was no clutch tractor took off. So now just got a belt from Cub dealer stens true blue 30" by half inch. Will this belt work? This is my first Cadet so I'm at a loss sort of.

Here's some general info as well as the serial number info.

http://tractors.wikia.com/wiki/Inter..._Cub_Cadet_111

I have a manual around here somewhere and i will check into the clutch/belt issue.

Here's a manual if you want your own.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
