Fall readiness exercise
Got nine of the cubs out for some exercise today, it was such a nice day here in eastern Virginia. The other two (a 1450 and the 109) are at the other house, so they didn't get to play today.
Had a slow leak in the 108's left rear tire and the 72's right rear. I plugged a hole in the 108's tire last month, and could not find any other leaks, but after a couple weeks, it was quite low on pressure. So I put a tube in it today. The 72 has had a slow leak on the right rear for over a year, so finally put a tube in that tire today as well. The 149 has a PTO problem as the PO drilled out the pressure arm where the fiber button goes so it is way oversize. I put a new button on it with a sleeve to hold it in the hole, but it self destructed pretty quickly. Need to order a brass button from Jeff in PA. (I think that's who sells them). Put Stabil in all the fuel tanks, and let them run for about 30 minutes. Three of the nine needed to be jumped, but they all started and ran fine. When I put them back in the garage, I shut off the fuel and let them run the carbs dry. https://youtu.be/uLBKx7_z1oo

Nice. I have enough of a hard time keeping one running. It stalled on me twice in the past two weeks. My fault for not putting gas in it though................................

Same here! I thought "I haven't run the 125 or the 100 all year, I should go start them up and drive around" Then I decided to just mow with what was already near the door.

I try to run the cubs at least twice a year. I only buy non-ethanol gas and I treat it with Stabil to try to keep it fresh. I don't usually keep the fuel tanks full, though. I shut off the fuel valves so a faulty carb float doesn't dump a tank of gas on the floor. BTDT. Not good in an attached garage.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
