A tool I've got to recommend
The tool (or rather attachment?) is called Lock and Lube. I asked Santa for this for Christmas as a few of the Youtube channels I subscribe to have had them and they looked like a great addition to the shop. I don't know about you guys but I have a few zerks around that don't like to take grease (heim joints on the snow pusher being I think the worst). As simple as greasing is, I'd put the grease gun to the zerk and if I didn't hold the hose/fitting just right while pumping the gun very hard, grease would come out before it even got into the zerk. A royal PITA.
Enter Lock and Lube. It basically (duh) locks onto the grease fitting and then you let go. It's rated for up to 10,000PSI and even comes with a seal rebuild kit when the time comes. I of course immediately tried it out. It. Is. Awesome. If you do any kind of regular greasing on equipment (which we all do, right! ) for as simple as it is, I'd recommend one 100%. And if you have any hidden fittings, they sell one with a longer barrel, as well. Check it out, I've linked it below. https://locknlube.com/collections/lo...grease-coupler And a quick video review/overview of the product https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmb4dhvmxzQ

I purchased one of these over a year ago, I love mine. Makes it so easy to grease hard to reach areas, no more holding the hose on the fitting. Great on inner wheel fittings and deck spindles, etc.
So good I purchased one for both of my grease guns. |

Thanks for the heads up on this tool. I am going to get one, I hate it when they won’t release from pressure.

I've seen those. Never used one..... but I was taught how to use a grease gun at like 8 or 9. I don't have too much issue with them consistently leaking grease at the tip. If a zerk won't take, either the zerk is shot, the fitting on the gun is shot, or the part you are trying to grease is plugged. If you have a fitting that will take grease, but it leaks at the zerk, then the zerk needs replaced.
That said, I do have several types of ends on different guns. I have a long pencil style that I use to grease zerks that you can't get to, such as on a driveshaft where the regular gun fitting can't get into. I have another that is a right angle fitting, for those fittings that you can't get straight on to. And of coarse, a standard gun. I honestly have no desire to lock the gun onto every fitting, every time I grease. But, that's just me. Just to reiterate, if you have a stubborn fitting that likes to leak.... replace the zerk. Works every time. |

You are correct Jon.. most of the time it is beyond just needing grease.. But most of my customers don't want to pay for the time it would take to disassemble and do it right.. They want me to get some grease in it so they can run it just a little longer... I don't and wouldn't do my stuff like that but there are some stubborn people that just wont' do it right no matter what

I may give one of those a try, I have a couple that need 3 hands to grease. You know the fittings that you end up with about a 1/2 a tube of grease all over the place and your still not sure if any of it went inside what you wanted to grease

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
