Welcome aboard Marko. There are many good options/combos available to do your chores. I'll agree that the 129, 149, 169 series Cubs are a great way to get into the hobby and you'll have a good durable tractor with many options. When you spot a tractor or implement you might be interested in let us know and we can help you decide if it is a good choice. You may find that you'll want more than one Cub, most of us have several. (at least!)

If it doesn't have 3pt, you will have to buy one, and an adapter OR buy the later model CCC built model 400 tiller. Both these options are expensive. I have designed an adapter for the aluminum rear ends so that you can run an IH tiller on them without having to have the cat 0 3pt and the adapter. But you will still have to install a sleeve hitch, and I do not know how that would work on an 1864, as I have not seen it done that I can recall. I suggest looking for an IH built tractor or at least one with a CI rear end if you want to run a tiller. |

Well I guess I'll have to do what you guys suggest and get 2 tractors then! One for tilling and one for the snow. I really do like the older look of those 129 and 149 tractors. And just like you guys have multiple cub cadets my interest was into golf carts before this. My big cart has a 23hp vanguard in it with billet pushrods, huge cam, bigger starter, and rev kit. She hits 45mph with a 25" tire and 7" double a arm lift. It's a remarkable machine.

4 tractors is really the minimum. One for mowing, one for plowing, one for a snowblower and one for the tiller.

You also need one for storing stuff on the hood and seat, one just to be in your way, one for "I don't have any immediate plans for it....but it was a deal" and one that leaks oil!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
