OBO is holding all offers until one is reached that is higher then the others that meets the sellers needs/wants with or without a time frame of when the offers are recieved.

OBO might mean that down south but not up north. When I list something for sale anywhere with an OBO on it means make me an offer not make me a higher offer. If I list it for $300 and someone's best offer is $275 then that's what we consider an OBO. There's a big difference from taking offers and listing a price with an OBO with it. But that's how us northerner's do it !!!!

Well, I was under the impression, that OBO meant an offer lower than the asking price. Per the incident previously mentioned, the seller meant the best highest price (auction format). Thus, the confusion on the meaning of OBO.
If one states negotiate, then it normally means to discuss to an agreed lesser amount.

Why not have 2 "For Sale " sites , 1 firm price , the other auction , why send members off elsewhere. It appears from the previous comments both would have patronage.
Just my 2 bobs worth (not negotiable) |

But, my understanding is that this is a FREE SERVICE OCC offers us!! It would cost money to add another feature to the OCC site. We should ALL be happy abiding by OCC rules, or the free service might go away!! I know I am!! Thanks for the For Sale section OCC!! Just my opinion! |

the for sale section is for us to unload our unwanted parts.
just list the parts for what your willing to take for them, and give the buyer the feeling of getting a good deal. if your in it to make money, like a business. you need to pay the site owner the 15 to 20 (what ever it cost) bucks a month and become a sponcor, and sell items that way. as for OBO, what ever you ask or do in PM's or emails is behind closed doors. and FYI the PM isnt a PRIVATE message. it more of a PERSONAL or you-to-you massage. and can be seen by Admin if needed. everything you put in a message box go's on the server.

1) List a price -- $125 2) $125 FIRM 3) Asking $125 ~~~~~~~~~~~ Option one gives the impression of not much wiggle room on the price. Option two is basically "buy it or move on" Option three gives a top price wanted but also lets you potential buyers know there is some room for negotiations. It's not a "best offer" or auction since the seller should have an idea what he'll sell the item for. Jeff |

There are a lot of good ideas coming out of this "OBO" confusion. Let's hope the sellers use some good wording in their listings.

I agree; this has been some good discussion. I guess I just want to make sure (along with everyone else) that prices that are listed as "asking price" or "negotiable" won't be flagged by the administrators. I think that the site is good the way it is - let's not complicate things. For a free service, I think it's great!
Cheers Nate

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
