Use snow blade as forklift?

I have several slabs of asphalt I removed as part of a landscaping project. Too big for me to pick up and put in my trailer to haul away.

I have been thinking about making a couple of forks that would hang over the snow blade (kind of like an inverted S-hook) so I could use the cub to load these into the trailer.

I have looked around, but don't see that anyone has done this -- thoughts, please?

I think you'll break the plow. Try a set of ramps and a come along to winch the slabs onto the trailer. Or break them up in smaller pieces.

could you use the blade to push them on? like sam said the blade will break if you try to lift with it

If not the blade will certainly take out the pins in the rockshaft. I was going to build a front lift gadget until I found out how wimpy the rockshaft setup can be. Idea has merit and many of us would have it like you said, but just not doable with that design. If you can push them and TN mentioned that would be the ticket.

The old hand cranked come-a-long is a very versatile tool, even if it is a hateful critter at times. And, can be bought cheap, nearly any where (I just did, to pull the 169 engine). But, even a 5 or 6 ft iron bar can be used in a pinch, to "uch" things along, if they aren't too big. But, these days, I look for the less stressful modes of get-n-r done.

My son the power lifter will be here in a couple of days. He can pick them up & put them in the trailer and feel good about it. I could maybe pick one up, but I would feel very bad about it.
