Rear lift install
When installing the lower hitch link, will I lose any rear end oil when I remove the bolts? Can I reinstall the fixed draw bar over the lower hitch link? If so, how long do the new bolts have to be?

It all depends on how well the cover is sealed to the casting.
I've added lower brackets to many rear ends and it's always a crap-shoot. This is probably a good time to change the fluid and filter. On a tractor that I know has good fluid and filter, what I have learned to do, is to raise the rear end of the tractor to the point that there is no fluid contacting the rear cover when you take the bolts out. You gotta raise them pretty high (almost standing them on end) especially a hydro. After you get the lower bracket added and tightened down, let the tractor back down and watch for drips the next few days. Off hand I don't know the length of the bolts, I just use a Phillips screw driver to measure the depth of the holes and get the correct bolts out of the bin (I always use grade 8 bolts).

Thanks. I just went through my service manual and didn't see the filter for the rear end. Where can I get a filter and gasket and what type of oil do I use?

A quick look at my book, the draw bar and the lower link use bolts that are 1 1/4 long.
There is no filter on a gear drive.

lmao, Yes, there is no filter on a gear drive.
I probably should have also said that I use an overhead crane to lift such things. Ramps could also work, but only if you're very careful.

I did find a Cub part number for the gasket and oil. I might as well change the fluid while I'm at it. Going to rebuild the carb also. Looking for a carb kit that includes the mounting gasket.

I've never seen a carb kit that includes the mounting gasket.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
