If you bought it new I suggest that you have a chat with the seller. If not then call Bercomac. Otherwise stick a grade 5 or grade 8 bolt in the hole and sprinkle some holy water on it and go get your snow moved. Don't want to sound like an A Hole but I'm at a loss for an answer. As long as your not feeding it rocks or frozen chunks of Ice a blower should not be spitting out shear bolts. They are meant to break when the system has been over stressed. Sorry but something is wrong and I can't diagnose it from here.

i bought it used. it had never been used previously. i put more wear on it today than it ever had. not hitting anything but snow. its wet but not too heavy. grade 5 seems like the right next step. here is the manual if anyone wants to see if I am missing something. Swear i did read it....

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByH...ew?usp=sharing

it is a class 8.8 shear bolt by the markings on the top.

I would go with the eat less snow and a bolt might get you by, thats a lot of load if your moving to fast something got to stall or break ,chew it up slow or try a half width cut.

8.8 as far as I know is a metric marking a Grade 8 bolt would have 6 lines on the top of the head.

2 things - according to the manual it looks like it calls for shear pins with nylon lock nuts and as far as i can tell everything is std size, not metric. Looking here a grade 8.8 metric bolt is close to grade 5:
https://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-i...ade-chart.aspx

Make sure the shear bolt size is correct; i've seen small ones that slop around break easily and it won't have the strength needed because it's a smaller bolt.

Hope this helps.

Take a look at these sites/pages. If I am converting things correctly, you are already running something stronger than a Grade 5 bolt. So are you using metric bolts? Wonder if you could try a Grade 5 in a standard thread--6mm and 1/4 are close, 8mm and 5/16, doubt you have anything bigger than that.
I'm just wondering if you got some crappy bolts. Dangerous game when you start substituting shear bolts with anything other than OEM--do so at your own risk.

i had 2 bags of the shear pins. one came with the blower the other was a pack i ordered earlier this year. Both bags break. The bolts are all marked with a SM and underneath of that 8.8

Is this correct?
8.8 metric is 116,000 psi and grade 5 sae is 120,000 psi?

thanks again for all the help guys. I have still managed to blow a mtn of snow. we got 25", I can hopefully get the neighbors drives. I started with 20 shear bolts, I have 9 left.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
