Not trying to force deep snow thru to fast ? could always use a grade 8 bolt in place of the pin but may break something else if it binds up ! 15 inches here in New Florence Pa.,used the 109 with the plow and the 108 with the Danco loader, couple hours of seat time but I hate snow !!!

Well this is now getting interesting. Just went back and read your original post so we are not dealing with a Cub snow blower so you can disregard the info I posted. Your going to need to see if anything is binding that is causing these bolts to snap. If everything is free and it was my machine I'd stick a grade 5 bolt in to finish the job but then I'd get in contact with the people that sold that blower to see what they have to say.

Wish I had an answer for you but you have an aftermarket blower and I don't have access to the info on it. If you are the original owner I suggest that you contact the seller. Just my 2 Cents after looking at how it is designed I would stick at least a grade 5 bolt in it, tighten it up good and hope for the best.

that shear bolt is the main power to the whole blower. does it sound like the engine is working really hard when it isnt loaded (read not in snow) if it does you have something binding... does it spin freely by hand?

This is all I could find on a Bercomac blower for a 3000 series Cub. Hate to say it but I think your pretty much on your own on this one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
