Belt Adjuster - QA-36?
Replaced a broken chain tensioner, got everything working great this fall.
Finally got enough snow to blow in Cleveland last night. Worked fine. Blew again this morning, worked fine. Until. . . . The darn wire I rigged to hold the tensioner let loose. Again. Pull off gloves, play in the grease zone down there, ugh. Seems the thing just refuses to want to stay tight. I can figure how the factory bracket could actually work either. What's a really good fix for this annoying thing? |

Drill a hole in the side of the mount close to the adjuster
Thread it for a 1/4" bolt. Use a long enough bolt to catch the ear of the adjuster to keep it from going out of adjustment. run a nut on the bolt, screw it in the mount and and another nut to the back side. Tighten both nuts against the mount to keep tight. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
