I figured it out finally...... I know why the SN shows that it is a 2004 year model, while info shows that the 2186 was only made until 2003. The correct model you should have stated is a GT2186. That was made in 2004. So, do you have a GT2186-44 or a GT2186-48?? Not that the deck size is all that important to the question at hand, but it does change the engine. You should find a Kohler Command CH20 under the hood. I do not have the spec number for it. But it won't have the 18hp, like a 2186 would have had. This is why the actual model number is important.

So, with the given info, Roland and I are correct. The 2186 was made between 2000-2003 and would have had a CH18 under the hood.
Todd is correct, that the given serial number shows the machine made in 2004.
Now we know it is a GT2186.

Yes Sir,
You are correct, if i can get these pics on here, it clearly shows GT2186-44. I did not get a cutting deck just a front blade.

Sorry for the screw-up and many thanks for the help.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
