Got some more work done over the last 2 days. I still need to figure out how I want to make the hinge and where it will pivot. The tires are just for mock-up purposes. I'm going to buy 4 ply turf tires for it. This thing is going to be heavy. I'm guessing 200-300 lbs empty. On to the pics.

Since it is hydraulic, LOW is your friend!!

They only need to be high if you make it hand dump.

Put the hinge as far back as possible, and make the bed as low as possible. IMHO

The hinge is going to be around 12" from the back. According to my rough calculations, in order for the bed to tilt 45* with an 8" stroke cylinder, the cylinder needs to attach to the bed 10" in front of the pivot. That puts the cylinder rod attached at 22" from the back. If I move the pivot back farther, then the cylinder needs moved back as well to maintain a 45* tilt.

Looks like it should survive going through a battle zone, lol. Looking great! As far as your lift thing is going, what about using a scissor type joint in there? It would be a little more difficult to build though.

Thanks Larry. It is a little overbuilt but hey, the steel was free. Besides, it should live as long as a Cub this way.
I'd thought about a scissor type lift but I'll try the cylinder as-is and see how it works.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
