Default DIY pull behind sickle
Hi,

I had a need for sickle. At first I tried to find Haban 402E but these seem to be hard to find(rare). So I decided to build my own. This is modified from big tractor 3pt sickle. I made it pull behind version with its own engine(5.5 hp gas). Mainly because I want it to be easy & fast to attach and start working. Here are few pics:

Now that is great use of the old noodle... How about some up close shots and a bit about how you made it? The big tractor sickles are pretty easy to find.

Excellent job Tero!! Looks like it works very well!

How do you raise and lower the sickle bar? I may have to build something like that someday...it seems the proper Habans are becoming more difficult to find.

Ok, This is first working prototype so it is not very pretty(welded together in a hurry from scrap metals). And it lacks two things that need to be added very soon:

1. blade belt cut off (now I can stop blade mowement only by shutting down this engine)
2. Blade height adjustment(now there is only transport position and blade down position)

1. thing is going to be resolved by adding mechanics to loosen belt by mowing idler pulley a bit see pic:



2. Will be resolved by adding hydraulic stopper cylinder under blade(and also old whining Ford Power steering pump) This gives a good control of blade angle. And also I have all needed parts in my garage for free
