Default Snowthrower question

Will a QA-36A snowthrower fit an 82 series cub cadet? I have a chance to get one sure cheap in very good shape. Just curious if it will fit my 582 Special or my 1811? Thank you for your help.

It will fit but at minimum you will need to switch the pulley to 5/8" wide.

Three things need to be done.
* Change the Drive Pulley
* Change the Drive Belt
* Change the Upper Link to the Mount.

I believe xtreme motorworks sells the links. One thing to think about is getting the extensions that xtreme has to make the 36” take a bigger bite. Or make your own. 36” is narrower than the tractor and you can find yourself in a bad spot.

Saying this trying to be funny, doubtful it would work on account of the distance, but he could solve the"too narrow for the tractor" and need to extend part of the issue by buying my QA 42a.... Just n idea.....

The Belt is available numerous places.

The Pulley is still available from Cub Cadet.

The upper link is NLA from CC. Find a used pair or xtreme motor works has them.

I'm not so sure you need the upper links, I mounted a QA42A on my 782 and it lift 3.5" off the ground with the straight links and chute doesn't come anywhere near the hood.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
