cub cadet 71 restoration
Hi all! My project is at a slight standstill. i want to replace the axles seals, cause one side is leaking. I have had trouble finding them, but alas, i think I found them. I have talked to a few people who have used Sherwin Williams paint and were very happy with the results. I guess regardless of what i use, itll turn out nice. I'm hoping to start putting some progress pics up soon.
I am going to replace the front tires also. I wish somebody had the design like the original tires Does anybody have any tire preference for a replacement? all this thinking is making me thirsty |

I tried Sherwin -Williams paint and hated it! Went to API and had them mix the correct color using acrylic enamel. I should point out that I had most of the tractor powder coated but certain items (engine, transmission) had to be wet painted. Happy, happy, happy! The original style tires are no longer available but I did find some Firestones that had a similar tread design through Miller Tire.

cub cadet 71 restoration
well, its been a while since ive been on here. my project stalled for a bit. i replaced the axle seals, and for some reason most places did not have them, and failed to notify me that they did not have them. I checked my local Sherwin Williams for paint, but for some reason they could not match the color, so I'm going with the iron guard. Hopefully i can get some progress pictures on here soon

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
