How's the rear pto coming along? IIRC Deere started using the 540 pto after they stopped production of the 430 and all the other manufacturers threw the towel in cause there was more demand for belt drive lawn mowers.

This really iterates my point, thanks Todd.
The Deere 400 was the one with the oddball rear PTO speed (made from '75-'83). Then came the 420/30's. ('83 to '91). So other than the CC's that still offered the 2K reverse rotation, the 2K PTO were almost all gone by the 90's.

I know Yanmar, Kubota and Mitsubishi (Mitsubishi made the IH compacts, and sub compacts) went to 540's in the 80's. I know not all those made GT's, but the sub compacts are the closest comparison to the SGT.

I don't think that the they mean the tiller is reversable. I took it to mean that you could order one that way. I'd be interested to know what the premium would be on that "special order"....
Biggest reason I'm interested is for the Lo-Boy. Finding the rear 3pt tiller for them is about as hard as finding the 2K 3pt tiller for a SGT. The LB's PTO was a reverse rotation 2K RPM (actually I think it was 2200, but that's close enough.)

Todd, I was telling you that I wanted to recreate the rear PTO and this just further confirms that it is just not worth it. I would have a huge amount of money in that with no customer base. I already have a huge amount of money in the other project that I hope somewhat pays for itself and yields me a couple much needed parts in the process. More of that to come later.

You want me to keep pressing on Befco to see what they can provide for us or just let it go?

I'd just let it go.....
If I wanted to buy a tiller for my older tractor, I wouldn't buy new anyway. It's an interesting prospect nonetheless.

The 3000 series Cubs use a 2000 RPM mower deck. I was thinking at one time of making a rear mount finish mower from one. Just A thought.

I have the rear Pto on my 2182 so this interests me. I am getting a rear tiller with my 2182 that I still have to pick up from the PO. I am interested in a rear finish or brush hawg style mower. I looked up the prices of these that you posted. The model I looked up "I'm not sure if it was the correct one" was a 72" with the air filled tires and it was $3200.00! Wow they are not cheap! I did not see where it says anything about the 2000 rpm models. They look like really nice implements but the priceing is hard to swallow when the 1 impliment costs more than double what I paid for my 2182 with 3-point, rear Pto and tiller! But it does at least give an option for us that have the 2000 rpm rear Pto. Thanks for the info.

There were other tillers that are the same as the CCC ones. Either Todd (Oak) or Randy (Leadslingingdaddy) have the snapper version. Exact same tiller.

I have an IH tiller....I seen a green one, is that what your are talking about J??

FYI....On the WFM site (JD) there is a post on making a reduction to go from 2000 to 540rpm....If that's what you want to do....Normally that's at the Cat1 size...

Default 2000 rpm attachements

The Onan and Yanmar powered 300 and 420-430 John Deeres had a 2000 rpm rear pto as an option. I have the 2000 rpm on my 16hp diesel 332. It is a direct drive through the hydo pump into a chain reduction unit to get the right rpm. I have a John Deere 3 pt 60" finish mower and 48" tiller, both 2000 rpm. I drove 4 hours one way for the tiller and 5 hours to get the mower. Neither were cheap, but work very well. I have the Ruegg cat 1 limited on the 332. I run 4 42lb weights on the front with the Model 260 (60" mower) and 7-8 weights with the Model 48 Tiller. The only time I have seen my 332's governor kick in was when the tiller hit hard clay. In the Deep South pickings are slim on any garden tractor attachments. There are other attachments out there, but you have to be patient. I gave up on finding a 2000 rpm bush hog and bought an International 244 with loader to make it easier to find a bush hog. So now I have red and green.

They made a direction reverser for the IH rear PTO.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
