That's the other reason.

Seriously.... I usually mow with a set of radio earmuffs on. Not so much hearing protection as I just like to listen to music and can't hear it with just headphones. Anywho, I mowed earlier this summer without them because it was too hot to wear them. While mowing I thought, "Man this thing seems to pull down a lot more than it used to. Come to think of it, I don't think it sounds like it's running fast enough.... " So I checked it. Yep. 3450 RPM with the deck off. I thought it was low. I still haven't taken the time to adjust it yet.... but good to know I can still pick it out.

Just think Jon - you could verify if the tachometer is working correctly or if it's miscalibrated lol!

I wanted one few 'clic' ago but since Mr Kirk didn't sell them anymore, I made my own and he still work flawlessly but honestly I think a hour meter is more useful on a garden tractor then this. Unless you can't live without one on your cub I suggest you get a timing lights with a onboard Tachometer instead. ($79)
