Default Unethical buyer

A few weeks ago I bought a new(er) truck. The dealer would only offer me 350 dollars trade in for my S10. Knowing it ran and drove, I opted to take it home and sell it outright, thinking I could get a bit more for it. (So yeah its a 97 S 10 with 162K miles and some body rust, not perfect) It sat around for almost a month with a few hits but nothing serious. A guy calls me up and offers me cash $$ for it within a reasonable asking price and 'can I come look at it?' He shows up (on Friday) with a friend, and they look it all over, take it for a test drive, seemed genuinely interested in it. Detail specs of the motor, trans, etc. I took care of this truck for 15 years so yeah I know the ins and outs of it. So they pay me cash $$ what we agreed upon, signed the title (which I made a copy of) and we both signed a slip of paper I filled out that said how many miles it had, the date, as is no warranty that I kept.

Fast forward to this morning. I find it for sale on a social media page for almost twice what I sold it for and what I was originally asking for it. My buddy found it on another similar social media page and he called the seller (the guy that contacted me about it but didn't sign the title, his friend did) out on it. I called the guy out on it too, telling people he was a title flipping scammer. He proceeds to block me from said site, call me all sorts of names, then he deletes everything. Then I start getting text messages where he's all like ' I sold it for 2K and it had a clean title how am I scamming' then started calling me names again. (How did he already have a clean title is beyond me) I had his number blocked and didn't reply. I'm hoping this is the end of it.

So yeah I sold my truck of 15 years to a guy that, even though he may have done it right, doesn't seem ethical to me. It's not about the $$ its about the fact that he bought it just to flip it and LIE about it (ad said my daily driver and he only owned it 3 days). Had I known he was shadier than my shadow I would have told him to get the **** off my property. What's done is done I suppose- no real sellers remorse, but why is this a thing that happens? Why is it difficult to trust people and their intentions?

This will be the last time I sell a vehicle privately.

Any time I have sold a vehicle both myself and purchaser went to the notary ( fast tag ) to have it changed into THEIR name. The notary sends the paperwork into the state for transfer.

Besides, you sold the vehicle for what seemed like an acceptable price so it is now out of your hands.

About 15 years ago, I sold a Penton Enduro 175 cc to a guy that I used to ride with. Gave him a good price because it was rough and the frame welds were broken down around the foot pegs. He told me he was going to fix it and ride it.

This butt head turns around and lies about it's condition on C'sL. Jacks the price 8-10 times what I sold it for. He sold it.

After that, I wrote him off as someone I wanted to know. That simple. Money had nothing to do with it.

I traded in a snowmobile about 10 years ago on a new quad, dealer resold it, low and behold a year or so later its on ebay, 'owned since new, never damaged, always hauled in an enclosed trailer'. It had custom paintwork and accessories so I was sure it was mine. Anyway I had rolled that sled on ice once, and at that time I didn't even own an enclosed trailer, so it was always in the salt on the road.

I thought about saying something but it wasn't going to change anything.

You sold it for a price that was good for you what do you care what the new owner does with it.

I think he is angry he could not get anyone to give a reasonable price initially .
You should have advertised it at twice the price and come down IMO
I'm trying to sell my 13 Sportster for $7700
3.8k , a dealer here had one for $9800 with 17k
For $125 and up Got Junk will haul away salvageable items .... go figure

Don't worry Daniel,

Creeps are out there and looking to make a buck any way they can. At least you got paid and weren't the victim yourself. I've always been lucky thus far, but I've got the hoarder gene in me so selling doesn't happen often. The wife wishes that were not the case!

I don't see how making money makes someone a creep.
I think the buyer should have handled the title transfer differently, but other than that what's wrong with making money when you see a legal opportunity?
I do think it would have been better for him (the buyer when selling again) not to lie in the ad.

A seller can always lower a price, but it's tough to go up on it.

The guy did it in a poor way and did lie to the future buyers he was trying to reach but honestly, some of us I'm sure have done at least similar. I know I've bought good/great Cub deals with accessories such as a blade or blower then kept what I wanted and sold the rest. But shh don't tell anyone; once or twice I've kept what I wanted and sold the rest for more than I paid for the whole package deal

Right, but it's the lying about the equipment history that's the issue. Calling something your daily driver that you've owned for three days is what makes a creep. It's not about the money, it's about deceiving the future buyer.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
