Default 1450 with 3000 hrs

We have a 1450 that has been in service in my family since 1976. It mows weekly, tills, plants, and cultivates the garden, and at one time when I was a teenager I cut half the neighborhood with it.

Very conservative estimates put it over 3000 hours!.. It always gets run at least 75 hrs per year.. some years in the past we ran it over 100 hours a year. Engine got tired in the mid 80's... .010 over on the bore and .010 under on the crank solved that issue. We still run it regular... It has been an amazing machine!

Now that's very believable. Cool you still have it!

I have my granddad's 71. When I put a motor in it, it will be #4. I wish I knew how many hours it had on it! No way to even estimate. Plus, I doubt all those engines were well taken care of well. I know how granddad used his stuff.

Some of these responses are insane with the high hours! guess I am fortunate my 2072 is about 1,000. Changed oil in it last week--we only put 75 hours on it over the last 2 years! We do have a couple farm tractors with 8-9,000 hours on the tach.

Although it is not a cub but our simplicity has just over 1000 hours and it is a late 1990s model used mostly for mowing our large yard several family members yards and several for hire over the years original kohler motor its been using oil and pretty weak the last few years but refuses to give it up. All weve done to it is regular maintence its never been rebuilt.

I am curious...is it a Sovereign, Sunstar or Legacy Simplicity?

My 2182 has 550. Somebody gave up on it for some reason and it sat for 8yrs.
2082 has 900. So not everybody has high mileage ones!
Family's old 806 has 8200 and counting according to its current owner. Much less than I thought. Must have just seemed like more when I was a kid and wanted to be doing something else.

J-Mech

This is one of the sleeves out of our 1086, was the first time the valve cover off in 12,000 hours although it was on its third set of main bearings. The rings were within factory end gap specs too but cavitation was taking its toll on the outside of the sleeves. Low side of the TA went out at around 11,000 hours and I changed it when the engine was overhauled.

Have a buddy in Maryland with a big dairy that runs a 7130 or 7230 on his feed mixer and it gets a 250 hour engine oil change every 21 days, a couple years ago it got overhauled for the first time at 33,000 hours and he's ran a couple of boxcar magnums past 50,000 hours before needing any transmission work.

50,000? Wow. I've heard of guys hitting 20,000 with no problems but 50 is crazy. Those old Magnums were tough tractors.

I turned 10,000 on my Uncle's 806 in about 1989-90. It was used pretty regularly up until about 10 years ago (when they got a 7110 Magnum). No idea what the hours are on it now.

Both of my Kubota turbo engines have over 3000 hours on them when I put them in the tractors. They came from golf course machines that had regular maintenance.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
