From the looks of the dent in the deck in the second picture , I do say it got tweaked or something.

The deck is manufactured that way for tire clearance I think. 54's are made that way and I think 48 as well.

Your earlier question about deck noise. You shouldn't hear any bearing noise at all. Just wind noise.
Tires don't appear to hit, just awfully close and not symmetrical. Yes the bearings are SHOT. When I first got it they seemed fine, but spindles have wobble as does the idler. I'll have to rebuild the deck this winter, Probably only get 3-5 hrs on it the rest of this season.

No damage, got the same clearance notch on both sides.

My GT 54 looks like that, with the "dent" in the deck. I don't know why, my tires on my 1864 don't come close enough to that.

John Hall, My GT 48 deck right front (sitting on the tractor) sticks out at a slight angle. The GT54 deck when I got it had wheels that went straight ahead that looked like yours. The right front one broke a bolt off in the top when I disassembled it and I couldn't get it out so I found a replacement that was supposed to be the same part number for only a few dollars on ebay, and when I got it and installed it, it sticks out at an angle like the GT 48. This picture is my GT54 deck with the deck wheel I'm talking about. The other side is straight ahead, and plenty of clearance on both sides.

The indented edge of the front of the deck is indented for tire clearance on the Super!

The casters on the 54" right side deck are straight ahead on the GT and Super.

The casters on the 48's are winged out for tire clearance when turning on both sides.

First picture is a 48". Second is a 54".

I edited this post. Just an update.

I may have to edit again after I go to the barn and look.

Speaking from complete lack of experience with Supers, why? I would think there would be more room for clearance on a Super than a non Super.

I had it right the first time. 48" decks, the front casters are angled outboard, both sides. The 54's are straight ahead both sides. The picture above on the 54" deck is incorrect.

PS. Probably what's happened is someone knocked the caster mount off the deck and they either welded it back on wrong or used the 48" mounting bracket. I'd suggest keeping them as far inboard as you can.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
