Cadet utilty tractors
Not looking to buy one, but just wondering---Did Cadet ever make/sell a utility tractor that was considered a GOOD machine? By good lets set the standard at the Deere painted Yanmars back in the mid/late 80's--I know those were great machines as I ran the crap out of one for about 4 years--little thing was as tough as they come. Reason I ask is there seems to be more traffic here all the time about these machines. I've heard PTO clutches were junk, plastic parts broke way too easily, parts hard to come by. So are there any GOOD models of these machines?

Yes..... but I don't know the model numbers. They rebadged Mitsubishi tractors in 1991 and sold them under the Cub Cadet name. Case IH used the exact same tractors that year for their sub compacts. Look up a Case IH 1140, you can do a little Googling to come up with the Cub number series for them. My friend and I shared one. It was a really good machine.
EDIT: Looks like 7275 was one of the model numbers. |

I have a Mitsubishi built 7265 that has been nearly bullet proof. I have a fel that has literally moved tons of dirt. Don't use the rear pto much. Power steering is effortless, 4 wheel drive and diff lock- never been stuck, controls well placed, steel, not plastic, body panels, hood, fenders, etc., sips fuel
My uncle has a 7265 and a 7260 and he's had minimal problems, same as me. http://www.tractordata.com/farm-trac...adet-7265.html

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
