missed out
I went to a tractor show today. I&I in Penfield IL. Great show, ends tomorrow.
In the for sale area there were 3 Cubs with decks. Saw a price on 2 of them, a 125 and another NF that I don't remember. There was a 1450 there and there was no tag on it to ID the seller or an asking price so I went and looked thru the rest of the stuff at the "trading post" (this was not the swap meet stuff, I believe it was a central place for people that were displaying tractors and couldn't man a swap booth simultaneously.... ). I walked thru the rest of the for sale stuff and as I was going back over to "make sure" there wasn't a tag on it since I had seen tags on some in places I would not expect. Another guy was loading this 1450 onto his truck, 50" deck that was supposedly stuck but complete and solid went with it. It was all there except for a battery, it looked like it had been sitting a while. When I asked how much he gave for it, he claimed "50 bucks".... and started rattling off what he "could get" for the side panels, the deck, the hood, etc. He offered it to me for $100... IDK if the engine was blown or stuck, but it was there and totally complete. hydraulic lift and all.... crap.... to put that with the 1650 roller I had listed a couple weeks ago, (still have BTW) I could have all the parts I'd need to build a nice tractor... |

The best time to buy it is when you see it!

it was the end of the day, spent too much by then on food and root beer floats... so I didn't have it left to spend at that point... or I might have.
That, plus I had the wife like "right there" 10 feet away telling them that "I have plenty/don't need no more" |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
