I've looked at that before Ike and I like what you did. I've never seriously looked into it. I would consider changing out the dash too. I've seen the Command engine put into the older style tractor so it might be possible.

I'm always looking for affordable donor parts. Problem is no one around here ever advertises them for parts. They just scrap them. Not to mention the other problem. I do not have your talent for fabricating.

I also like the Cyclops styling. I have good plastic for this tractor but, this project was just something I had to try. Thought there must be a way to use the 82 series sheet metal and retain the Cyclops tilt wheel, dash lights, etc.

I have an extra dash panel, plus I saved the wedges I cut out. Could glue them back in, it wouldn't be too noticeable. So it would be easy to go back to the Cyclops plastic.

Good luck with your project.

Ike

I put a CH 18 in a 782 awhile back. It was pretty easy and made a nice running tractor. As far as donor parts, I'm lucky to have some friends locally that play around with cubs and like to trade stuff.

Take Care,

Ike

Keith has been busy busy cleaning stuff up! With shipping confirmation on just about everything i have purchased, its time to get after things. We had our first encounter adding another valve to a cyclops series. Helps to have all the parts, but it was an overall simple experience. Have to get a few hoses made monday, go to a neighboring town to get the female cplrs and the hydraulic system is done.

Rescue11, I've wanted to add aux hydraulics to my 1863, I plan on using the parts from my 1862 parts tractor. When you added your dual hydraulics it got my attention . I though I saw a post a few years ago where someone was making a o ring coupler to go between the 2 valves for the supply? is that the route you went or did you tee your supply line? Any tips or pics on how you did yours would be appreciated

You can't "T" the supply line, they are open center valves. You have to feed it into one valve and out the other. Only way you can do it. Sam Mac had the short tubes made. I don't know if there are any left. They are NLA through CCC.

Ok thanks, I thought I remembered someone making some up. If Sam doesn't have any Rescue11 must have a source.

I contacted Sam a while back as to the availability of the ones he had made and he said he was out. I did some research ,some of the later cub cadets use the same setup for multi valve addition . The part number is 711 3294 and it's called a fitting union but some of the earlier parts list called it an adapter. They cost about $20.00 and are still listed as available. I have not purchased one but did check with the local cub cadet dealer and was told they are available.

Thank you for the info and part number Dave! Even if I don't add the valve right away it sounds like I should grab on of these adapters for future use.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
