Default 782 parts machine values

2 values I'm looking for here:

What is a 782 with a deck and a blown engine worth? I have found one that should be a candidate to supply the rear end and driveshaft for the one I have in the shop with a missing driveshaft, hydraulic line, and a rear end with bolts broke off in it.

What is a 782 with a reasonably good running KT17 and a replacement deck worth if the rear end is a mess, driveshaft and hydraulic line missing, bad seat, and rear tires won't hold air.

I'm trying to broker a deal between the 2 owners so one of them will have a running mower. Of course if neither wants to fix theirs and the price is right on both, I could see a 782 in my future---but we'll save that scenario for another thread.

Depends, are they valuable to either guy? I'd say between $50 and $150 each, but that's just me and how I see prices around here. Yes they are Cubs, but in the end, to 90% of the people out there without the skill/knowledge to make them run they are just a lawn mower that doesn't work. See my point?

how about a 782D?
I'm waiting on pics, but apparently it was running fine and then just stopped.
The owner said to make an offer.

Thanks guys, I'm thinking the $1-200 range myself. Hopefully this will work out so somebody will have a running mower with lots of spare parts

I paid $40 for a good running red 782 with good sheet metal (and lots of rust in other areas).

Then paid $50 for a yellow 782 with a blown engine, but otherwise in decent shape mechanically.

Both I was able to get parts off, then pass the rest along and made a few modest $$.

I did not fair so well, I paid $125 for a 782 rolling chassis that was missing a side panel. I paid $400 for a good running mag 18, but bad sheet metal and pathetic wiring 782. Part of the factor for me is whether it is IH or MTD built and what engine is running or not running in it. I will pay more for an IH 782 than I would for an MTD one and I will pay more for a magnum, onan, or diesel than I will for the KT, running or not.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
