That is a nice looking 1650 you just bought. Are you planning a full restore or just fix as needed? I like the power of my 1650 but they are a shaker unless at idle or full throttle. The cradle mod and new factory replacement mounts are a required fix for them. Good luck and keep posting pictures.

Like you, I have a soft spot for QuietLines too. I spent many, many hours mowing acres of grass with dad's 1000 (which I still have) and have always enjoyed how they performed and their classic styling.

The best wheelies you have ever seen...Bigly! In fact, I am going to install wheelie bars on the back end!

I am going to do the cradle mod, solid mounts and new driveline components. Jeff In Pa is making the parts! I will tune the engine replace fluids/filters and replace axle bearings and seals...wash and wax it. Still contemplating what deck to install.

Thank you all for the nice comments...hope to finish it very soon.

Don't forget to check the "For Sale" section too...My 800 is for sale!

Look pretty clean with a good bath! I prefer soft mounts because the K341 is the king of QL shaker but since I never own a 169 with rigid mounts I don't arguing about your choice.

Wish you have very few repairs and get it running yesterday!

Made some progress on this thing too! This 1650 was only supposed to get the basic Quietline stuff...you know...engine mounts, drive line repairs, fluid and filter change and replace leaking gaskets. Ha! I got it apart and found the frame was cracked. I had to practically take it all apart to repair the frame. Well might as well take it all the way down and do it up pretty. Just about every part was sand blasted and all dents repaired. I am going to rebuild the engine and, as you can see, I am repairing the issues in the transmission. I tried a few different types of paint and finally decided on PPG acrylic enamel. The wheels, steering column and the hydraulic lift handle have all been powder coated. This tractor is going to be another paperweight...it will be too pretty to use.

It was cracked about mid frame and by the cradle mount holes. Odd.

Indeed! Why didn't I just take up knitting or spinning! LOL

I used to paint years ago but asthma and allergies make it tough for me to paint. A friend of mine is a retired GM painter. He and Tim (Olds45512) make painting look so easy!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
