In the short term, your LT will be fine, but you should really consider the heavier duty tractors because once you start working it, you'll likely want to tackle bigger jobs. You might also consider a new XT3 (which I own) or possibly the XT2 GX54" D Garden Tractor with the K62 tranny with differential lock. The turning radius alone is light years beyond the older stuff and buying new will get you a great warranty, many years of reliable service and you'll support american made Cub Cadet Corp and their workers.

Below are some specs on the top end XT2 GX54" D Garden Tractor . Higher up is the XT3 Garden Tractor which gets you a shaft drive, cast iron tranny for $3,999 and up to $4,900 with power steering, diff lock and larger axle (30mm as opposed to 25mm). I have the larger XT3 and really like it so far. I think Cub also offers zero percent financing now.

If your OK with spending $3500 come up to my place and I'll hook you up with an 1864 that I rebuilt with a new Kohler CH22 and a new 54" deck along with a bunch of other things. And I'll throw in a 3 point hitch.
