Default 1250 not charging

Hello all,

My 1250 isn't charging. I looked in the technical bulletins section and where there used to be a picture of the solid state charging system test, there was a message from photo bucket saying 3rd party viewing had been temporarily disabled.

Either way, I gave it a shot. I'm really not good with engine electronics. I swapped out the ignition and the AMP meter, I had some extra parts laying around. Both AMP meters read at zero, they read just below zero if I turn on the lights or turn on the PTO. I checked the AC wire connections were they connect at the voltage regulator/rectifier with a multi meter and it was between 27 and 28 at WOT. I checked the DC from the voltage R/R to the battery and it was 11.63. There's a grounding wire between the bolt on the starter and the bolt going to the frame on the lower part of the grill. Those grounds are clean and solid. The ground to the battery is clean and solid.

The battery died when I fired it up to go back in the shed. I threw a trickle charger on it. The battery was purchased last year, it's the kind you use in the winter for blowing snow.

Thoughts?

First, the link in the Technical Library section has been fixed.

Replace the V/R.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
