Cub Cadet 1720 carb
Well got the carb off the 1720. It would only run at full choke. Here is what I found. Full of water and gunk! Took it apart, soaked it in Berryman carb cleaner for 4 hrs. Sprayed it and all the ports and wired them out. Have to put it on tomorrow to see how it goes.
Ooh and another thing, the needle valve didn't even have a spring hooked to the float tab lol. |

I am thinking, this will make a difference and a vast improvement,

The water by itself would make it run pretty awful.

I don't think it did either. Lots of carbs don't. They aren't required, but do help prevent needle valve sticking on gravity fed systems. Not as big of a deal with a force fed system.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
