Default Command CH18->CH20->CH22 differences?

I have seen this (and I think asked this before) posted around on various forums quite a bit but I would like to get a definitive answer and then, since I have the parts, do a write up on how to do this and include any info I find along the way.

I would like to know, and eventually show, how to turn a CH18 into a CH20 and/or CH22. Due to a recent engine swap, I have an extra Command carb from a 20hp sitting on my bench. I also have an 1864 with an 18hp CH18 in it. I'm going to lay eyes on the two carbs side by side as well as the linkages/stops/etc but if anyone has anything they'd like to contribute the project, please post here. I'd like to know what people know to be true about this swap. I.E. "Ryan, you're going to have to adjust the throttle stop" or "Ryan, you're going to have to adjust the idle fuel mixture screw" or "Ryan, this won't work because the bores of the carbs are different sizes" or anything you guys can think of. I know we have a lot of really smart, talented guys here so I look forward to see what y'all have to say. I also know we have a lot of newer guys here who are just learning so if I can put together a guide showing how to do the swap, I think that could help a lot of people.

From my experience, on asking around and searching on the net the only difference in a CH18 and a CH20, is the throttle stop. On the CH18 carb, which only allows the throttle to open about half way or so. I removed the stop on my ch18 "making it a ch20" but honestly my 782 doesn't get worked hard enough to notice the 2 hp difference.

Hello,

On the 18 to 20 throttle stop change, you have to reset the governor to make it a true 20. I have heard you can put a 25hp carb on a 18hp. Would like to try if i had one. I know the pullers like 18hp heads on a 25hp for more compression. Mike

Ryan, you have asked this question on here before and we went over it..... I don't know what you want to know? The only difference between the 18 and the 20 is the throttle stop on the carb. Of coarse if you pull the stop, you have to adjust the carb and governor. The 22 can be a different bore depending on the model.
