Stolen 1200
Hey everyone, thought I'd share a depressing story (sorry). I've been visiting this site for a couple years now, finally became a member last year. I don't post much, but I love to keep up on all of your stories. I've had a 1200 in my family for 35 years and I planned on keeping it for 35 more. Unfortunately, those plans have come to a screeching halt.
About four months ago, the clutch went out and we were in the middle of building our house. Needless to say, I had zero free time to spend with my cub, so I took it to the local repair shop. The guy had it all summer and when he finished, he set it outside his shop on a Friday. The next Monday he called and asked if I had picked it up over the weekend (insert face into palm here). Long story short, he notified the police and the case is still open. The officer came to my house and asked what I thought it was worth. I told him monetarily, not much, but sentimentally it's priceless. I gave him some specific details that only match my cub in case he comes across one. I'm not holding out hope. Sorry again for the depressing story. It feels good to get it out. My friends don't understand, after all, it's only a "lawn mower". |

I'm sorry for your loss. And I hope it gets found complete. It's such a shame that low life's do this kind of stuff.

Thanks guys. By the way, I'm in the market for a new to me cub. I scour Craigslist daily. I'm hoping I either find the person trying to sell mine, or find one that will help me move on. I still have the deck, deck carriage, #2 cart, wheel weights, chains and snow plow so I'll probably stay in the WF family. Let me know if anyone runs across one around Iowa.

Wow, who'd think of that?
baker, Why don't the repair shop accept any responsibility? Well, I'm sorry to read of the news. Chances are, it was a bunch of kids. Takes more than one to load the 1200 up, I'm sure, in this situation.
I hope you can find another IH Cub Cadet, perhaps the same Quiet Line model. I know there are OCC members out your way, so finding one should not be too difficult! Best of luck on your new tractor! John

What kind of idiot would risk jail time stealing a 1200? Not like there is a bunch around, it's kind of conspicuous. It's not like stealing a Craftsman.
Sorry for your loss. What part of the state you live in? I'm from the NW and can help with finding another 1200 if you are interested.

Hate to hear that someone would steal anything!! It's funny how those little machines can attach themselves to you... almost like each and every one has a personality of it's own!
I hope you find it or maybe another one like it

Just how reputable is the shop that did the work. Not saying they are the culprit in this but it could happen. Since the 1200 was still in their possession I would think they should be responsible for it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
