Default Cub Cadet 1025 RD-J

Hello

I am new to the board and this question may have been asked before so hope you don't mind me asking again.

I am having problems with the drive engaging to the cutter deck on my 1025 RD-J.

Basically you hear the blades spin up but when you start cutting you hear them slow down and they would eventually stop if I hadn't disengaged.

The clutch is supposed to be nearly new, fitted around 10 hours ago.

Is there adjustment or do they just fail.

The belt is new around 6 hours cutting ago but I am sure it is not the belt.

Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forum!!

Right off the bat, I'll just say it's always neat to see someone from another country join up. Most all the members are from the US. We do however, have members from all over the globe!

The machine that you have is not available in the US market, so I can't see much information about them, outside of the standard sales stuff. I can access Cub Cadet UK, but you guys don't seem to have the option to view parts like we do on the North American site.

So, I'll start by asking a few questions:
How old is this machine? Is it still under warranty?

Does it have an electric clutch for the PTO? Or is it mechanical linkage?

I would start by making sure all the belts are installed correctly and tight. If the machine is still under warranty, your best bet is to contact the dealer. If it is not under warranty, then maybe you can take some pics of the deck drive system and post them here so we can see what you're dealing with.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
