Ltx1045 - small fire
Through a friend I might be able to get a low hour ltx1045 for free. The problem is there was a small fire. Picture still has fire extinguisher stuff on the engine. While I have not seen the tractor in person the photos show little damage to the engine plastic covers and no damage to the hood.
I know this is not the same machine as my 782 but I was looking for a cheap mowering tractor and wonder if this might be a good option. Anyone have any thoughts? My hope is $100-200 into it, and I can get it back up and running. IMG_4945.jpg

I'd steer clear. Those tractors are junk.

I agree, my neighbor has one with 225hrs on it and it's already junk. If I were them I would have stood back and watched it burn.

Thanks for the help. Looked at the tractor and decided to pass. Fire was worse than photo showed. Flywheel shot, coil shot, suspect stator was bad. Too many bad parts to put into a so so tractor.

I would have got it and put another engine in it. I have an LTX1040 I got with a blown Courage. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=40705 Their no better or worse than any of the other LT's made in this century.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
