Then the engine may or may not start on the next try, my 1440 starts when it wants to.!!!! Any suggestions? I have blown out the fuel lines with the line at the fuel pump disconnected and put inside of a coffee filter with a hose clamp on it so I could see if any trash was in the line. New fuel pump, cleaned carb, changed fuel filter... nothing seems to be working
dvogtvpe, you mention "the anti back fire valve on the carb" where is that located?

How big a boy are you??

You sure your rump isn't coming off the seat enough to disengage the seat switch? Or maybe it's going bad?

Does this only happen when you have the PTO on? If so, I'd be checking the seat switch.

Honest truth, dealer dad worked for had a small fellow running a 82 series (I think) for a municipality or school. Anyway, mower kept cutting out/off/missing so they brought it in. Mechanic mowed for forever, couldn't make it act up. Carried it back, unloaded it, and before the driver made it back to the dealership, customer called in, same problem. Long story short the guy didn't weigh enough to keep the seat switch tripped when he hit a bump.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
