Seats??
Might be a stupid question, but why do most pullers not have a seat?

I don't use my Cub. I just work on it and look at it. So far it's holding up very well. |

When pulling, your front end doesn't touch the ground. The tractor is small enough you can steer by shifting your behind from side to side. Easier to do on a metal plate than on a seat.

weight. the average seat is 15 to 20 lbs. a piece of aluminum is 1 or 2 lbs. most place's will require a 3 in back. and another benefit is being able to move around easier.

Don't you want weight on the rear axle though?? I thought the more the merry in the rear.

yes and no. moveable weight , tractor weight and low center of gravity have to be considered. if you have a 60 lb driver then weight isn't that important. but its a heck of a lot easier to slide your butt on a aluminum seat than try to do it on a padded seat.

There was a tractor for sale in the local paper some years ago,
it said no seat, no steering wheel. Was for a fellow who lost his ass, and didn't know which way to turn. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
