I'm familiar with them. The ones I've seen anyway. Some poorly engineered ones had issues with mixtures to get proportions correct. Too heavy no flow. Too light not enough flow. Most all suggested some amount of glycol to keep from freezing.

I did have a T bucket for awhile. But it had a big block Chevy in it. It had a high flow belt driven water pump.. along with a belt driven roots blower

to answer your original question, yes it can be used for a swap, but only if you kinda know what your doing. most swaps end up in a pile of parts that get junked or sold off. but if you do it, document it here. sounds cool.

Thermo king/yanmar motor
Kubota also used this system, engine model was a ZB600, 35 cu. in., 12 HP. actually worked quite well if you kept the fins clean. Cylinders were horizontal, radiator sat on top of block. Carrier used Kubota just as TK used Yanmar in the first diesel refrigeration units for box trucks when diesel chassis were just getting popular in the late 70's, early '80's before they went to the D600, then the D722. Good luck finding parts, Yanmar engine dealers are few and far between

I'm with greaseburner on this one. While it would be nice to have a diesel in that tractor I'm not sure the pros of that particular engine weigh out the cons IMO. In the thermo king unit it doubt that engine ran more than 1200 - 1300 rpm. Your going to be asking more of it than that for your tractor. I dont know for certain but did thermo king do this with a governor? Or with the injection pump? Will you be able to find parts if need be to make it run higher rpm?

Here is the link and post https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...ed-yanmar.html I found a small fixed speed 3 cylinder Yanmar Thermo-king diesel that has no throttle lever for speed adjustment. I would like to change it to variable speed by replacing the injection pump. Not much information available from engine tags. Does anyone know what is required? Perhaps just a new injection pump with a throttle lever? Numbers on block are K6K29977 Valve cover TK3.74 K29977 Any info would be appreciated. Thanks 90Cummins

Cooperino I appreciate the insight, I have come to the conclusion that this probably would be in fact a huge PIA to try to retro fit. Once again I appreciate everyone's insight. Guess we will just rebuild another tractor for 4H.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
