Yeah, I am mostly aware of the what I need, I already found a later model parts machine. cost isn't a concern to me, I knew that the 782 was lacking power steering when I bought it, I also knew I would add it later.
I picked up my 782 for $600, which I feel was a fair price.
The reason to buying these is simply the fact you can buy and rebuild them cheaper then a box store mower and still have something that will last another 30-40 years.

Those JD sabers at home depot? They will be made into a mailbox, shower curtain rod, Toyota, etc etc, within years.

Welcome. Nice 782. I find it ironic that the seller had been mowing around a tractor with a mower deck on it.

I know right?
That's partly the reason I even stopped. I wasn't looking for a mower.
I thought, that thing must be blown up. looks like a good project.

When I saw his 1100 dollar price tag I thought he was crazy.
Then he told me he just stuck in his yard at that price because RED POWER round up was happening in his town early last summer.
Which I knew about but didn't go. (Been to a few before)
He was just hoping someone needed a 782 to complete his collection. (or something of the like)

I told him I was IH guy, and was fully aware of what these are, and what they really are worth.
He had no problem dropping his price at that point.

He had a self propelled walk zero turn walk behind.
said he hadn't used this in 6 years.

Well, what I am going to call project snow fighter has commenced!

Going to look at kayak don's 450 snowblower tomorrow night.
Then depending on what happens time frame wise, I'll be heading to pick up some real cub wheel weights. Tomorrow or later this week.

Snow chains are in the mail with two of those John Deere copycat 42lbs suitcase weights. (they only had two, I'll order two more once they get back in stock)
Then on Saturday I'll be heading out to pick up a real IH Winderbreaker heat Houser.---- Yes, I found one.

Currently the 782 is at the CASE IH dealer getting the carb rebuilt.
Yes, I had it done, I have more money then time.

Then all I have to do is fab a bracket up for the two suitcases and toss the rest of the stuff on.
I am just going to copy one of these designs in the photos I added.
not trying to reinvent the wheel, and many people have treaded before me.

Then.... I'll give it to my father in law for the rest of the winter.

I have a plow truck. hehe

I live in the northwest suburbs. A few miles south of the border. But the family farm is on the western side of Rockford.

Pm me if your looking for anything more then that. I'm not big at putting locations up on the web.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
