If you were closer I have about 15 oil filters here that will fit one of those, that I will never use....

Glad I don’t have to remove factory rivets from the ball joints but kinda takes all the fun away! Pretty sure I’m ready for all of this. Going to be fun!

Got the job done! I'd like to share the experience a bit later, as I had been at it from 7pm Friday all the way to tonight. Now I ought to list an ad in the paper fixing this specific problem, lol Need a little rest.

My time spent was because I never done such a procedure before. To a lot of non-believer's dismay, there are a lot of these trucks still on the road around here, with over 3 hundred thousand miles. I could make a buck doing this. What took a lot of my time was installing that switch on top of the transfer case - what a stupid idea. The thread hole is beveled, and on a slope. I got it.

Only thing to do is to make sure you install the parts correctly, hence the reason GM gives you extra! Still, a lot of work was done, I saved myself a shit ton of money considering most garages charge 70 -80 an hour around here, plus I trust MY work. New wheel hub, ball joints, rotor, brake line, caliper, pads, switch, both fluids, and the GM kit alone was just over $600.

The transfer case switch is not hard to do---unless the front body mounts are rotted off ( under the front door hinge area) then you have to jack the body up a bit so your hand fits to remove/install the switch. BTDT
Usually the switch ruptures it's diaphragm and sucks ATF into the vacuum system actuation motors, as well as the manual dash switch.
so you get to replace them also.

Have you had to remove the dash yet to change the heater core?
oh what fun
Did I mention the rotted out front upper control arms?
it happens in the rust belt part of the country all too often.

Updates on the way!

ol'George, every winter that I know of that this Blazer has run through. The stuff they spray and put down on the roads today in the rust belt is awful for any make/model of cars and trucks! Akron/Canton airport does not use any of these corrosive chemicals on the run ways because of the damage it causes to the air craft, and I know this for fact. The port uses blades and sand only. You never see the Dodge pick up trucks from the 70's to early 90's around here. Those ones got ate up with rust so fast and were the first to go aside from Chevy and Ford.

No heater core problems yet, but I heard that it was easier to pull the passenger front fender and go in from there.

Jon, I take it back, I was fit to be tied a few times doing all this work. But now looking back, it was easy. Nope, wont do it for business. Because then comes along the cheep-ass who just wants this and that done while I have to put the old, worn parts back on and then I'm responsible.

Guess the parts were not a "kit". I did have to buy them separate. Here are the GM parts I needed.



edit: the special thrust washers were listed and sold as a kit. My bad.
