Default $4,000 vet.

My cat had kittens earlier today and she's had a complication know as uterine prolapse, basically here uterus came out with the kittens and is now on the outside. By the time I got home all the vets were closing so I drove her an hour away to the only 24hr vet in the area, they would basically be spaying her and they want to charge me $4,000. I think they fell and hit their head.

Well, I suppose I should have skipped right over this thread, but NO, had to comment. I ain't a cat fan, so you know what I would do...
But yeah, I could see maybe one less 0 on that price, but $4000 large. That's just stupid money, for ANY animal, much less a cat.
On another note, I spent "stupid" money on a dog, not that kind of coin, but had to question myself as I gave them permission to do the work.
SO, what did you do?

I left. As long as it doesn't rupture she's not in any immediate danger. My vet is out of town for the weekend so i'm going to call around tomorrow to see if i can find a vet that doesn't want to take advantage of the situation, if I can't we'll just have to hope for the best and wait until Monday when my vet returns

I bet they base the fee on how far the customer was willing to drive to them.

All business, no compassion.

Call the local shelter. They all have vets they work with. $4000 is robbery.

I did a bunch of calling around and only found one vet willing to fix her today, it's gonna be $400 out the door. I'm glad I found someone willing to help and someone that doesn't want to take advantage of the situation.

Tim, you are great guy...of course we all knew that right?! Most guys just invest 10 cents in lead and that's it. Please post a pic of momma and her kittens when you can.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
