It's not likely a failed part, but I could be wrong. It happens occasionally.

Crimsonred, sorry to hear about your “life issues” things like that can sure cause you put everything else on hold. I hope it all works out well for you. By chance, do you have the dimensions for those bushing you had made at work for the steering on your Cub Cadet? Sam Mac posted a link a while back and I’m using it to see if I can locate some bushings I can get to replace the nylon factory stuff. I would like to replace the ones at the drag link and steering gear with something like you had made. Also, I’m looking for some to replace the front wheel bushings. I feel sure I can find one at McMaster- Carr for the outside wheel bushing but the back one, with the grease zerk, so far has been difficult to locate. As always any and all assistance is appreciated. Thanks,

Are you looking to make them out of another material? Because they aren't hard to find at all. ALL the parts you listed are available from CCC. None of the bushings you listed cost more than $4 except the one with the grease fitting, and it is $7. Those prices are direct from CCC, but can be found a little cheaper if you look in other places.

J-Mech, I have replaced the front wheel bushings several times with the CC replacement bushings which are nylon. What I was considering was a bushing that would be more durable than the nylon ones. Thanks,

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
