I'm looking but wonder, "Why have manufacturerrs done away with the hub caps?"

That part is correct for a 12" cub cadet rim.

Too much chrome, I don't do shinny stuff. Oh Yeah I'm lazy.

They look great! Knew you would have 'em all shined up too!

As they should!

Back in the 60's early 70's, they were plain ones offered by Sears for their GT's. Such as, Suburban 12,14, 16 and etc. I see them popup on E-bay every now and then. I have a set on my 149.

Here's how Mooney responded:

Most likely it’ll have to be screw on type discs, but if it’s on tractor and don’t drive too fast, then Velclo, or double sided tape might be sufficient to keep them in place.

What we need from you is overall diameter measurement on wheel where you want discs to sit in. our regular 12” discs measure 12-3/4”.
If you can let us know that measurement, we can make them up for you even if it’s not 12-3/4” for additional charge.
Thank you!

Because they are ugly. Hub caps are for cars, not tractors.

I guess you're right, work.

Reminds me of 4-wheeling on the desert when I lived in AZ. Knew the chrome polished wheels on 4-wheelers meant, "I look cool but, I don't work!"

Adding chrome, fancy paint and other bling to a Cub cadet is no different than doing the same to trucks, semi's, etc. None of it makes them run or work any better but it still gets done.

Those 12-3/4" dia. disc would fit just inside the turn out on a 12" CC rim.

Which hubcap was Mooney's talking about there? the spun aluminum one?

Yes, with a clear coat.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
